EMPSi is supporting USFS Region 4 with revisions to the Forest Plan for the Ashley National Forest. The existing plan is being updated to address contemporary trends and comply with the 2012 Planning Rule. Issues include opportunities for sustainable recreation, wilderness areas, and effective management of fluid mineral development and grazing.

We are assessing forest health to incorporate concerns over increasing wildfire frequency and severity. A modern fire and fuels management strategy will provide forest managers with options for managing the forest under changing conditions,

EMPSi has also prepared the socioeconomic assessment report and acted as an interdisciplinary team member for economic modeling of impacts. As part of this effort, EMPSi conducted an analysis of ecosystem services and incorporated the findings of a baseline economic assessment and modeling prepared by the Forest Service.
